The tempo soothed you as it matched almost perfectly with Loki’s beating heart. He began to hum an old Asgardian tune while you laid your head on his chest. Soon after you cried your heart out you began to hear the tranquil sound of Loki’s voice. Loki still held you and at some point, in that 30 minutes, the two of you made your way to the bed. It wouldn’t be another 30 minutes until your sobs subsided and your breathing steadied. You took in his scent, focused on his heartbeat. You desperately searched for more comfort from him, but you couldn’t fight back the sobs. You clung to his sturdy frame as he held you. He let you cry in his arms as he rubbed your back soothingly. So instead of talking, he simply wrapped his arms around you tightly. Loki wasn’t sure what to say to you, to be completely honest you weren’t sure if you wanted to hear anything. You had lost both your parents, one of whom you were just about to share some of the most important news of your life with.

You balled your hands into fists and pressed them against your knees. It was as if the ability to speak was completely stripped from you. “Y/n what’s the matter?” Loki rushed to you and held your face. Your breathing became rapid and your vision blurred as tears engulfed your eyes. You choked out a wrenching sob as you dropped the letter and fell to your knees. Your stomach twisted, your eyes began to sting with tears, and your mouth went absolutely dry. Your tired eyes scanned the words and you physically felt your heart shatter into a million pieces. You had seen that it was from your mother and this made you even more anxious than you already were. Loki saw your eyes fall to the letter as you slowly opened it. You didn’t even know the contents of the letter, or who it was from, yet your stomach seemed to drop the second the parchment touched your fingertips. “My love it’s for you” he walked over to you and handed you the envelope. Loki took the letter with a smile and a quiet “thank you” and shut the door. He opened the door as the person on the other side greeted him. Loki shot up right away and gently waved his hand, signaling that he would get it. Suddenly, your thoughts and Loki were interrupted as a knock on the door boomed throughout the chamber. Of course, no one owes a coming-out experience to anyone but this was for you. You weren’t able to come out to your past father and that made your stomach drop every time you thought of it. This was something that was important to you. You tried your best to collect your thoughts. “You know I’m not referencing brute strength my love” he laughed with you.Ī silence filled the chamber and even the palace chatter seemed to stop. “I don’t think I’m stronger than Thor” you laughed. “Your brother is literally the god of thunder” you playfully rolled your eyes. You are the strongest person I know y/n” he gave your shoulders a squeeze and softly caressed your cheek. You looked at him and tried your best to give a smile. As if on cue, Loki said “you have every right to be nervous”. You had prepared for this so it felt quite silly to be getting this anxious over it.
How were you doing? Did you even know? You planned to come out to your mother as non-binary today and it seemed to all be hitting you right now. You were about to open your mouth to respond but you weren’t sure what would come out. “How are you doing dearest?” He asked with the softest voice in the world. His warm hands met yours and he gave you an all too comforting squeeze. He slowly walked over to your figure and sat next to you. There was not much that went over your lover’s head, especially when it came to you. You smiled as best you could, however, under the given circumstances it was difficult to fake one.
